2006, when the Hurricanes won their first two NIT games to advance to the
quarterfinals.

Miami has advanced past the NIT’s first round five times (1963, 2006,
2009, 2011, 2012) and has advanced past the first round in each of its last
four postseason appearances.!

Miami’s #2 seed ties the highest seed the Hurricanes have earned since the
NCAA took over the NIT in 2005-06. Last year, UM was also a #2 seed.

Overall, this is the 16th postseason appearance for UM.

In 2012, the Hurricanes are now 2-1 versus teams in the NIT field —
defeating Valparasio (66-50) on March 14 in the First round, downing #5
seed Massachusetts (83-75) in December and coming up short in overtime
(64-61) at Ole Miss in November.

Monday’s winner will advance to the third round of the NIT to take on the
winner of the contest between top-seeded Tennessee and fourth-seeded Middle
Tennessee.

over- all in the BUC. The Hurricanes have now notched double-digit home
wins at the BankUnited in five-straight seasons and eight times in nine
full seasons calling the arena home.

Gameday Report - Miami vs. BC

Miami closes out the 2011-12 regular season when the ‘Canes face Boston College at the BankUnited Center. UM will honor seniors Malcolm Grant, DeQuan Jones and Ryan Quigtar before tipoff.


Miami is 14-24 against Boston College in the all-time series. The ‘Canes are 6-2 against the Eagles since March of 2008, including a trio of road victories in 2012, 2011 and 2009. UM defeated BC twice last season, both in Coral Gables (72-71) and in Massachusetts (73-64).

Freshman Matt Humphrey led Boston College with 13 points and seven rebounds as the Eagles lost to Miami, 76-54, January 29 in front of 5,874 fans at Conte Forum. Freshman Ryan Anderson had nine points, going 7- for-8 from the foul line, grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists. Classmate Jordan Daniels recorded nine points and five boards. BC was ahead in the early going, 11-9, before Miami went on an 8-2 run to open up a 17-13 lead with 11:07 left in the first half. Durand Scott scored the last five points in the run. Humphrey led BC back with consecutive 3-pointers to knot the game up, 21-21, at the 6:38 mark. Miami went into the locker room up at the half, 34-31. The Hurricanes had a pair of five-point leads early in the second half and led, 38-33, with 17:19 on the clock. BC then scored seven unanswered points to take a 40-38 lead. The two teams played within a possession of each other for the next seven minutes before Miami finished the game on a 29-6 run in the last 7:56. The Hurricanes held BC without a field goal in the game-ending run after freshman Lonnie Jackson hit a three to give BC a 48-47 lead. Scott led four Miami players in double figures with 19 points and six rebounds. Grant had 16 points, Kenny Kadji had 14 and Reggie Johnson scored 12.

Storm Surge’s watch party for the Feb. 29 Miami vs. NC State game at Buffalo Wild Wings Sunset Place. We had a great group as a little less than 50 people came out! There was also a balloon artist who made some awesome UM themed balloons for us.
